More than 140 activities, parades, concerts, fairs, mezcal, gastronomy, and traditions during July

The Government of Oaxaca presented the official program for “July, Month of the Guelaguetza 2026,” an edition that seeks to solidify its position as one of the most extensive and representative in recent years.

During the announcement at the Government Palace, Governor Salomón Jara Cruz affirmed that the biggest celebration for the people of Oaxaca is also a cultural window to showcase the state’s diversity to the world.

“It is not only the biggest celebration, it is an opportunity to share with Mexico and the world the enormous cultural, artistic, gastronomic, and community richness that our state possesses.”

The 94th edition will include more than 140 cultural, artistic, gastronomic, and sporting activities distributed throughout various locations in the capital and municipalities of the state.

The main Guelaguetza performances will take place on July 20 and 27, corresponding to the traditional Mondays on the Hill and its Octave, with shows scheduled for 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the Rotonda de las Azucenas (Rotunda of the Lilies).

Authorities announced that presale tickets will go on sale May 15, while general sales will begin on June 1.

The program includes the traditional Convites (processions) on July 1, 10, and 11, as well as the Cultural Calendas (parades) planned for July 18 and 25.

One of the most noteworthy announcements was the return of the delegations from Santa María Huazolotitlán, Santo Domingo Chihuitán, and San José Tenango to the Rotonda de las Azucenas, as part of an edition that seeks to broaden the representation of indigenous communities.

The traditional Mezcal Fair will take place from July 17 to 28, bringing together mezcal producers, artisans, coffee vendors, food vendors, and agricultural businesses. Additionally, the Oaxaca DIF (System for Integral Family Development) will organize the Guelaguetza for Seniors, “Toz Nakchho,” and the Gastronomic Market, “From My Roots with Their Flavors.”

The agenda will also include sporting events such as the 77th National Classic Cycling Tour, the Third International Mixtec Ball Tournament, and the Guelaguetza International Marathon, with 42, 21, and 10-kilometer races.
