In a coordinated operation, law enforcement officers arrested a man for his alleged involvement in aggravated sexual abuse and attempted rape.
The arrest stemmed from reports on social media, where the man was accused of sexually abusing minors at an esoteric center located in the municipality of Ocotlán de Morelos.
The accused lured his victims through social media; he then conducted cleansing rituals and fake spiritual retreats in order to sexually assault them.
At least two girls and two boys were victims of the detainee’s abuse, leading to the opening of an investigation by the Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office.
When did the abuses occur?
According to the investigation file, the attacks occurred on January 22, February 7, March 11, and April 22, when the victims, whose identities are being withheld in accordance with the law, were assaulted at a service in an esoteric center.
The investigation indicates that, at the location, the victims were subjected to inappropriate touching under the pretext that it was part of a “cleansing” ritual, in reality to commit aggravated sexual abuse.
After the victims reported the assault to their parents, they were placed under protective measures and received psychological treatment. The alleged perpetrator was subsequently arrested and brought before a judge who ordered his imprisonment in the Tanivet prison.
In the state of Oaxaca, official protocols have been established to prevent, detect, and respond to cases of child sexual abuse, bullying, and mistreatment.
