The members of a family from the State of Mexico that was heading to Oaxaca died after colliding head-on with a passenger van, on the Oaxaca-Cuacnopalan highway, near Huitzo, heading to Nochixtlán.

The State Attorney General’s Office confirmed the death of 13 people and 10 injuries after the accident in the Valles Centrales region of the entity.

Among the family members, the death of eight people was reported, while on the side of the passenger vehicle the death of five people was specified.

Among the total number of victims, the death of three minors was also reported.

According to unofficial reports, it is presumed that the driver of the blue Ranger truck, where the family was traveling, would have fallen asleep before hitting the Urvan.

The impact left the part of the driver of the passenger van completely destroyed, according to the images circulating on social networks.

The injured were treated at the scene of the accident by elements of Federal Roads and Bridges (Capufe) and the Red Cross.

The agency initiated an investigation folder for the crimes of injury and manslaughter due to vehicle traffic.

The victims were transferred to the Institute of Expert Services located in San Bartolo Coyotepec.
