The ingredients of the Mexican sea and countryside will star this weekend in the Puerto Escondido Gastronomic Festival “Surf & Turf” 2022, which will take place from June 10 to 12 in one of the most important destinations in the Costa de Juárez region. Oaxaca and that will bring together gastronomy, mezcal and craft beer. As well as the greatest exponents of Pacific coastal cuisine.

“In its first edition, this event will show the richness and diversity of the Coastal cuisine, as well as the quality of hospitality and restaurants, aspects that have led Puerto Escondido to position itself as one of the most iconic beach destinations in Mexico for its culinary, cultural and tourist experiences”, informed the organizers. 

Guest chefs at this gastronomic festival include Carlos Gaytán, Benito Molina, Diego Baquedano, Ruffo Ibarra, Javier Plascencia, Nico Mejía and Alfonso Cadena; from Oaxaca José Manuel Baños, Alejandro Ruiz, Rodolfo Castellanos, Pepe Sosa, Andrea Sánchez, César Macayo and Miguel Mijangos; as hosts, Quetzalcóatl Zurita, Carlos Martínez, Saúl Carranza, Roberto Cruz, Gerson Madrid, José Miguel Arana, Jesús Ramos and David Serrano.


According to the government of Oaxaca, the Puerto Escondido Gastronomic Festival “Surf & Turf” 2022 will consolidate commercialization bridges between producers of gastronomic ingredients, businessmen, and chefs, with the purpose of “exhibiting and promoting the cuisine of sea and land of Oaxaca”.

Thus, ingredients such as corn, chili, tomato, avocado, aromatic herbs and lemon will merge with the fish and shellfish that “will star in the creations of those who will visit Puerto Escondido.”


The inauguration of the Puerto Escondido Gastronomic Festival “Surf & Turf” 2022, which seeks to consolidate itself among the great culinary events in Mexico, will be held next Friday, June 10 at 12:00 noon, at the Zicatela Market; In addition, the “Fair of mezcal and craft beer” will be held with the presence of more than 15 exhibitors, among them, women of mezcal and Oaxacan producers that make up the Association of Brewers of Oaxaca, in synergy with the gastronomic offer of cooks and chefs. of the market that opened in November 2018.

The program includes eight gastronomic experiences where the invited chefs will share techniques, ingredients and flavors; on Friday, June 10, at 7:00 p.m., the Casona Sforza hotel presents a dinner with chefs Diego Baquedano, César Macayo and Carlos Martínez; the Hotel Escondido brings together Benito Molina, Rodolfo Castellanos and Saúl Carranza and the Rincón de los Almendros offers a taquiza grill performed by Alfonso Cadena, Miguel Mijangos and David Serrano.

For Saturday, June 11 at 7:00 p.m., Terraza Zicatela will offer a dinner with chefs Ruffo Ibarra, Pepe Sosa and Roberto Cruz; Almoraduz with Carlos Gaytán, José Manuel Baños and Quetzalcóatl Zurita and Metxcalli with Javier Plascencia, Andrea Sánchez and Gerson Madrid.

The brunch for Sunday, June 12 is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. at the Hotel Santa Fe with chefs Nico Mejía, Alejandro Ruiz and Jesús Ramos and, at 6:00 p.m., the Cayuco restaurant by José Miguel Arana will star in a kermesse that will bring together all the participating chefs.
