The Sailfish International Festival generated significant economic benefits for Puerto Escondido, reaching 39,677,000 pesos, reported the Oaxaca Tourism Secretariat.
These events, held from November 21 to 23 as part of the San Pedro Mixtepec November Festival, far surpassed last year’s results.
During the festival, hotel occupancy reached 59.72 percent, and 16,925 visitors arrived, representing a 30.8 percent increase in revenue, a 1.49 percentage point increase in occupancy, and a 6.2 percent increase in tourists compared to 2024.
Authorities emphasized that these figures reflect the growing interest in Puerto Escondido as a tourist destination and the consolidation of its annual events. Surveys administered to attendees showed a high level of satisfaction, achieving an average rating of 9.45 out of 10.
Furthermore, 67.39 percent rated the organization as excellent, while the overall event experience was considered excellent by 78.22 percent of participants and good by the remaining 21.78 percent.
With these results, the Guelaguetza del Mar and the Sailfish Tournament are solidified as two of the most important events for boosting the economy and tourism of the Oaxacan Pacific coast, strengthening Puerto Escondido’s image as one of the state’s most attractive destinations.
