Amid what they consider to be a lack of progress in addressing their labor demands, members of the Coordinadora de Sindicatos Democráticos de Oaxaca announced a day of mobilizations for Monday, August 24.
The call is supported by organizations including FINTRAS, SITYPS, SITUNSIS, and SUTIOCIFED, whose members announced that they will take to the streets to demand responses to their labor requests and denounce the lack of agreements with the State Government.
Through the announcement shared on social media, the unions stated that they will continue defending their labor rights under the slogan “Fighting for Union Rights,” with the message: “Whoever governs, rights must be defended.”
The Frente Popular Revolucionario (FPR) said it will join the activities and expressed its support for the actions called by the unions.
The protesters warned that they will continue their mobilizations until satisfactory responses to their demands are provided. Therefore, the activities scheduled for August 24 are expected to cause disruptions to traffic at various points, depending on the actions the organizations decide to carry out.
The Coordinadora de Sindicatos Democráticos de Oaxaca reiterated its position of maintaining organization and mobilization in defense of the rights of workers.
