Section 22 of the SNTE announces roadblocks in Oaxaca

Section 22 of the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE) announced the occupation of state and federal agencies, toll booths, and roadblocks as part of its 24-hour work stoppage.

These protests will take place next Friday, October 17, in the state of Oaxaca and aim to demand the reinstatement of the tripartite negotiating committee with the federal and state governments, and the Single Negotiating Commission of the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE), and the reinstatement of tripartite negotiating committees for all CNTE contingents.

The mobilizations of Section 22 of the SNTE in Oaxaca include occupation of toll booths, roadblocks, occupation of transnational companies, occupation of Pemex, blockades of government offices, occupation and broadcasting of television and radio stations, and distribution of loudspeakers and flyers.

The CNTE demands the repeal of the 2007 ISSSTE Law and the repeal of the education reforms implemented during the administrations of Enrique Peña Nieto and Andrés Manuel López Obrador, as well as increased funding for education, health, and social security within the framework of the discussion of the federal spending bill for the 2026 fiscal year.
