In the state of Oaxaca, investigative agents from the Attorney General’s Office arrested a man who chained his two children to escape to a bar.

The defendant was identified as Alfredo Jesús B., 47, who even lost his job due to his alcohol addiction.

A video of the moment a motorcyclist was hit by a tanker truck on the highway to Mieleras was made public on social media.

However, to avoid having to keep his two children still, he tied them to a bed with a chain and padlock, allowing the suspect to leave the house to get drunk.

Suffering from severe malnutrition, the children rescued after being chained by their father

The charges against the defendant, who is originally from the municipality of San Pedro Mixtepec, were filed on several occasions due to complaints from neighbors who alerted the local police.

Despite numerous complaints, no action was ever taken against the man.

It wasn’t until two women filed an anonymous complaint with the Attorney General’s Office that, after several investigations, they obtained evidence that was presented to a judge, leading to an arrest warrant for the accused.

After the case was brought, the state police, along with personnel from the municipal DIF (National Family Planning Commission) and the Women and Children’s Prosecutor’s Office, rescued the minors.

Both victims were found at home with severe malnutrition and various injuries.

The two children, whose ages were not revealed, were taken to a shelter where a decision is being made as to whether their remaining relatives will retain custody.

A total of 57 children have been rescued by the Oaxaca DIF; abandonment and physical violence are the most common cases.

In Oaxaca, at least 57 children who were victims of abandonment and physical violence at home have been rescued by the police and DIF brigades.

This was reported by the State DIF’s Children and Family Advocate, Yarib Hernández García.

At a press conference, she indicated that the rescues have been due to anonymous reports or complaints from family members who provided videos and photographs of the children’s living conditions.

She also indicated that homeless children have been found begging, while others are victims of abuse due to substance abuse issues suffered by their parents.

Hasta ahora suman ya 57 niños rescatados por el DIF de Oaxaca donde el abandono y la violencia física han sido factores constantes.
