A human head with a narco-message was found on the morning of Saturday, May 31, in the San Antonio neighborhood of the municipality of Ixtepec, Oaxaca.
The remains were located by community residents, who identified a black bag containing a human head along with a threatening message.
Municipal Police officers immediately responded to the scene to cordon off the area. Agents from the State Attorney General’s Office also arrived at the scene to conduct the necessary investigations and identify the victim.
The remains were abandoned along with a message addressed to “El Tibu,” which read as follows:
“This is going to happen to all the rats and to those who continue with Daniel. We’re coming for you, Tibu. Sincerely, Commander 08.”
The State Attorney General’s Office reported that the remains were recovered and the corresponding investigations are underway.
Local media reports indicate that the victim has been identified as Leopoldo “N,” known as “El Talachero”; however, this information has not been confirmed by authorities.
Jara highlights that Oaxaca is the fifth safest state.
Last Friday, May 28, the head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuch, met with the governor of Oaxaca, Salomón Jara Cruz, to evaluate progress on the security strategy.
Through his social media, Jara Cruz described the meeting with the secretary as “productive.” He stated that they worked to strengthen justice and peace.
“We had a productive meeting with the head of the SSPC, Omar García Harfuch, to evaluate the progress of the National Public Security Strategy in Oaxaca, through which we are working to build a state and a country with peace and justice,” he explained.
He also emphasized that Oaxaca is the fifth safest state in the country, and therefore will continue to strengthen its actions in this area to guarantee the well-being of its inhabitants.
“We continue to be the fifth safest state and we are strengthening coordinated actions with the Government of Mexico, addressing the causes from the ground up to guarantee the well-being of the people of Oaxaca,” he stated.
The presence of at least three criminal groups has been detected in Oaxaca, including the Sinaloa Cartel, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), and the Gulf Cartel, as well as the presence of some local cells.
