A major haul of suspected cocaine was made in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec region of Oaxaca, where authorities arrested a man originally from Culiacán, Sinaloa. The seizure occurred on Federal Highway 200, specifically at the La Ventosa-Niltepec section.

According to official sources, the operation was carried out through a joint effort between the Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office (FGEO), the Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA), and the National Guard. Following a tip about a trailer allegedly transporting drugs on that road, an inspection point was set up by the agencies.

Upon intercepting the vehicle, security officers stopped the driver, identified as J.C.M., and conducted a routine inspection. During this inspection, specialists discovered irregularities in the fuel tank, which was subsequently dismantled with the help of a specialized mechanic.

A massive amount of cocaine was found inside the tank, with 220 packages each weighing approximately one kilogram. The substance has been identified as cocaine, and both the cargo and the driver were taken into custody by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The FGEO confirmed that an investigation file is being compiled, which will be forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) for further action. This significant seizure highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies in Mexico to combat drug trafficking and related crimes.

As authorities continue to investigate this case, it remains to be seen what other information will come to light about the driver’s involvement and any potential connections to larger-scale drug operations.
