The former president of the Santa Cruz Tagolaba Communal Property Association, Anastasio “N,” alias “Tacho Canasta,” was murdered on a disputed farmland located in the Sixth Section of that community, part of the municipality of Santo Domingo Tehuantepec, Oaxaca.
The attack against former community leader “Tacho Canasta” occurred today on a property near the ISSSTE (Institute of Social Security and Services for State Workers) hospital in Santo Domingo Tehuantepec, which is disputed due to the alleged invasion by this figure and his brother, Sergio Gutiérrez, who have been accused of leading an armed group and enjoying the protection of the PRI and now Morena governments.

According to the Oaxaca Attorney General’s Office, “Tacho Canasta” left his home heading toward the street that bears his name in the Sixth Section of Tehuantepec and was later found dead with various gunshot wounds.
It should be noted that, in September 2022, the then Undersecretary of Public Security of the Federal Government, Ricardo Mejía Berdeja, reported that the “Cártel del Despojo” (Dispossession Cartel) in Oaxaca has resorted to physical violence, extortion, and murder.
He emphasized that criminal groups, managers, or leaders are part of this operation to dispossess properties. They, in collusion with public officials, commit crimes such as physical violence, extortion, and threats, and have even committed murders, including the murder of a magistrate, a PAN candidate, and an electoral financial operator.
On Thursday, September 15, during then-President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s morning press conference, he gave a report on how property dispossession is carried out in Oaxaca.
For this reason, he said, the Oaxaca Attorney General’s Office has compiled a total of 1,467 investigation files from March 2021 to July 2022, of which 213 dispossession files are related to the forgery of notarial instruments.
He added that some homicides, such as the cases of Ivonne Gallegos Carreño, the candidate for mayor of Ocotlán de Morelos; Enrique Pacheco Martínez, the magistrate of the Administrative Court of Justice; and Carlos Eduardo López Martínez, the former assistant to Governor-elect Salomón Jara Cruz and executed in Juchitán de Zaragoza, “even show signs of property dispossession.”
On that date, he exposed alleged leader Anastasio Gutiérrez García, claiming that there are several investigation files opened against him as possible perpetrators of dispossession in Oaxaca, particularly in Santa Cruz Tagolaba, Tehuantepec.
Anastasio “N,” better known as “Tacho Canasta,” is accused of the crimes of dispossession, specific theft, damage, and unlawful deprivation of liberty.
He mentioned that, as a member of the FUCO (Fuco), whose leader is Antonino Morales (aka Nino), along with his brother Sergio G. G., they are aware of the importance of these lands located near the development of federal investment projects being carried out in the region, primarily the interoceanic corridor.
Salvador “N” also has three investigation files opened in 2021 by the Oaxaca Prosecutor’s Office for the crime of dispossession in Tagolaba, Tehuantepec.
He mentioned that brothers Sergio and Anastasio are also accused of the crime of unlawful deprivation of liberty for the case committed on June 28, 2022, at 9:30 a.m., when a group of 50 people, some carrying machetes, appeared at the ISSSTE property where employees of the company Desarrollo de Tecnología y Servicios Integrales S. A. de C.V. were working. On that occasion, they deprived supervisor Luis Alberto N. of his liberty and took him to the communal house in the Santa Cruz Tagolaba neighborhood, where they forced him to sign a document and held him against his will.
Mejía Berdeja explained that in cases of dispossession, the crime begins when a site is located that is attractive due to its added value, location, or lack of a “visible” owner, so investigations are carried out in the public registry, especially in agencies such as the Cadastre and Civil Registry.
In this operation, public notaries are involved in collusion, simulating legal acts to dispossess the owners of these properties.
