Nine minors from Chiapas who were being exploited in the city of Oaxaca de Juárez were rescued by state authorities.

In addition, two individuals were arrested for the crime of human trafficking in the form of recruitment, transfer and lodging for exploitation purposes.

The information was released by the state attorney for the Protection of the Rights of Girls, Boys and Adolescents of Oaxaca, Yarib Hernández García, who explained that the rescue took place on July 17.

According to the official, in May, with the Labor Secretariat and the municipal Attorney for the Rights of Children, Girls and Adolescents of Oaxaca de Juárez, brigades were carried out to detect child labor in the Historic Center.

As a result of these actions, a criminal complaint was filed with the Oaxaca Attorney General’s Office for the commission of a crime against children and adolescents.

Children forced to sell candy
“Two males were arrested and nine minors were arrested who were living in unsanitary and overcrowded conditions, and were forced to sell candy and cigarettes on the streets of the downtown area of ​​the Oaxacan capital.”

The minors and adolescents are receiving care in a social assistance center of the state DIF, while the two detained subjects were linked to the process and are in preventive detention.
