On the eve of the first Monday of the Guelaguetza Hill 2024, on a Sunday marked by enthusiasm and collaboration, the Government of Oaxaca, through the Ministry of Tourism, launched a new tourism promotion campaign in collaboration with the airline Volaris.
Chaired by the Secretary of Tourism, Saymi Pineda Velasco, the event highlighted the importance of the Guelaguetza and the cultural wealth of Oaxaca in the national and international tourism field.
In a setting set with the vibrant Oaxacan culture, this time with the presentation of the Pochutla delegation that danced for the passengers who arrived at the “Benito Juárez” International Airport in Oaxaca, the Secretary of Tourism, Saymi Pineda Velasco, welcomed key representatives of the tourism and business sector.
Among the attendees were Héctor Carrera, commercial director of Volaris, Gregorio Cabrales Delgado, representing the administrator of the Oaxaca International Airport, and Jesús Javier Lucero of the Federal Civil Aviation Agency.
The alliance with Volaris, initiated in 2018, has been a fundamental pillar for the growth of tourism in Oaxaca.
With more than 6 million passengers transported and flights to 11 cities, this collaboration has been consolidated as a vital strategy to connect Oaxaca with the world.
The “Oaxaca Plane”, a symbol of this cooperation, will fly national and international skies, carrying with it the essence of the Guelaguetza and the Oaxacan culture.
Omar Carrera Márquez, commercial director of Volaris, highlighted the responsibility of the airline in promoting the cultural and tourist wealth of Mexico. “We are proud to be part of this history. “The Guelaguetza is one of the most important reasons to celebrate the community and the cultural heritage of Oaxaca,” said Carrera Márquez.
This commitment not only strengthens tourism promotion, but also boosts the economic development of the entity.
Saymi Pineda Velasco emphasized the importance of this collaboration: “The Guelaguetza will be among the clouds for six months, thanks to this fully decorated plane that will take our culture to several destinations,” she said.
The secretary also thanked the logistical and organizational support of Volaris and the Oaxaca International Airport, highlighting the relevance of coordinated work between the public and private sectors.
The data presented reflect the success of the strategies implemented so far.
In the first half of 2024, Oaxaca registered an increase of 2.82% in available seats and 3.21% in passengers served compared to the same period of the previous year. These achievements are the result of a well-coordinated team and an innovative strategy that seeks to position Oaxaca as a top-level tourist destination.
The campaign includes, in addition to the branding of the aircraft, the dissemination of audiovisual and promotional content both on board and on digital platforms, guaranteeing high visibility of the tourist brand “The Cultural Heart of Mexico.”
With these actions, Oaxaca reaffirms its commitment to strengthening tourism promotion at the local, national and international level. “We continue working to position this land proud of its roots,” concluded Saymi Pineda Velasco, inviting everyone to be part of this celebration of the culture and community that Guelaguetza represents.
