Huatulco, Oaxaca hosts the Eighth Renueva Open Water Crossing

The Eighth Renueva Open Water Crossing 2024 will take place on February 10 and 11, an event that will once again be part of the Mexican Circuit of this specialty, in Bahías de Huatulco.

Such competition is selective for the National Open Water Championship 2024, which would have Nayarit as its venue from April 26 to 28, informed the president of the Swimming Association of the State of Oaxaca (ANEO), Julio Iván Morales Gálvez.

For this state qualifier in Huatulco, the distances of 10 kilometers (km) for the open category, 7.5 Km for the 16-17 division, 5 Km for the 14-15 and 2.5 in the 12-13 years, in the male and female branches, are considered.

There will also be tests of 500 meters, 1,250 meters and 2.5 kilometers with an open non-qualifying character for categories ranging from seven years of age to 60 and older, with distances from 300 meters to five kilometers according to the corresponding division.

On Saturday, February 10, the state qualifier of the Mexican Open Water Circuit in Huatulco will take place starting at seven in the morning in the Santa Cruz Bay.

And on Sunday there will be more activity of the non-qualifying divisions, with scenarios in the bays of Maguey and Santa Cruz, respectively. The marking of the swimmers will be done 45 minutes before the event.

Subsequently, the next competitive activity of the ANEO will be the Second Mantarrayas Cup 2024, to be held on February 24 and 25 at the facilities of the Mares Aqua pool, a competition in which affiliated and novice swimmers can participate.

It should be noted that in this event, as in the past ANEO Speed Tournament 2024, the participation of the gold, silver and bronze medalist in the 2023 CONADE National Games and State Sports Award, Sahara Monroy García, has been confirmed by her own coach, Guillermo Velasco.

They will compete in the categories 8 years and under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18 and 19 and over, in the male and female branches. The competition system will be time trial finals.

Of course, the three best teams will be awarded, as well as the first three places of each category by sum of points, that is, there will be individual champions by division. In addition, general participation medals and event shirts will be awarded.

While the first session of this 2nd Mantarrayas Cup will be on Saturday, February 24 starting at four in the afternoon, and on Sunday the activities will start at 09:10 hours.
