Representative festival of Oaxaca, the Guelaguetza 2023 started with a lot of excitement last weekend in the Historic Center of the capital

July is the month of the Guelaguetza and this year’s edition, which celebrates its 91st anniversary, began on Sunday, July 2, with the first Convite organized in the streets of the Historic Center; where a contingent of more than 600 people participated, including dancers and musicians from nine delegations

What happened at the start of the Guelaguetza 2023?

On the first day of the greatest Oaxacan party, the delegations of Chinas Oaxaqueñas participated; San Pedro Pochutla and Ejutla de Crespo; Miahuatlán by Porfirio Díaz; San Antonino Castillo Velasco, Ocotlán de Morelos and Putla Villa de Guerrero; In addition, the Dance of the Feather of the Villa de Zaachila was presented and also the singer Paola Hersan in the Plaza de la Danza.

Likewise, the contingent was headed by the state governor, Salomón Jara; and later he was received in the Plaza de la Danza by representatives of the 16 ethnic groups and the Afro-Mexican people. It is worth mentioning that a festive and jubilant atmosphere prevailed during the event, showing the brotherhood between the communities of the state.

A party that takes to the streets

In the same way, this edition of the Oaxacan festivity is historic since the organizers planned that many gastronomic, artistic and cultural activities to take place in the streets of the city to facilitate pedestrian access; In this way, it will be possible to easily reach the parties, dance shows, performances and even the Mezcal Fair.

Remember that the main event, Las Fiestas de los Lunes del Cerro 2023, will take place on July 17 and 24 at two times: morning, at 10:00 a.m. and evening, at 5:00 p.m.
