Oaxaca de Juárez.– The city of Oaxaca was awarded as the “Best Gastronomic Destination in Mexico 2022” by the Food and Travel site, or earlier as part of the Food and Travel Reader Awards, in its seventh edition, which also recognized the restaurant Las Quince Letras by chef Celia Florián as “Best Restaurant in the Interior of the Republic”.

Since last December 13, the Food and Travel site began the voting process to award the best tourist destinations in the world.

These awards recognize the best of tourist sites and restaurants, in 23 categories. “In this, the seventh edition, we decided to change the format to give voice to 37 specialists from the hospitality industry, who are recognized authorities in their field, to make the nominations,” the site says.

Together with the editorial board of Food and Travel, they have proposed, based on their knowledge and experience, the chefs, restaurants, bars, gourmet spaces, destinations, hotels, airlines, wellness experiences, cruise ships and travel agencies that they consider should appear in each category.

In the years 2020 and 2021, Oaxaca was also nominated in this world category; as well as in the Leading Urban Getaway Destination in Mexico and Central America (Mexico & Central America’s Leading City Break Destination), obtaining the award in 2020 for the winning destination in this category.

After announcing the winners on their Twitter profile, Food and Travel wrote a message to thank the establishment and the chef for sharing Oaxacan cuisine for 30 years.
