Three people were arrested and a handgun, 1.5 kilograms of marijuana, three vehicles, and cash were seized during the execution of six search warrants at different locations in the state of Oaxaca.

In a statement, the Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico reported that personnel from the Mexican Navy (Semar) and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), in coordination with the Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office (FGEO), obtained search warrants from a control judge as part of the National Strategy against Extortion.

Authorities subsequently carried out various operations to intervene at the identified properties.

The three people arrested, including a woman, are allegedly linked to a criminal cell associated with protection-racket payments, extortion, and the illegal occupation of properties.

The detainees and the seized items were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine their legal status.
