Tropical Storm Boris made landfall early Tuesday morning along the border between Guerrero and Oaxaca, bringing heavy rains to various regions of the state.
After making landfall, the system began to weaken and is expected to continue dissipating in the coming hours.
The Guerrero State Secretariat for Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection reported that the storm made landfall around 3:00 a.m., with sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gusts up to 85 kilometers per hour.
It is moving north-northwest at approximately 9 kilometers per hour.
Despite the gradual weakening, authorities are maintaining a tropical storm warning from Lagunas de Chacahua, Oaxaca, to the municipality of Técpan de Galeana, Guerrero, and are continuing to monitor the most vulnerable areas.
Civil Protection reported that the remnants of Tropical Storm Boris will continue to generate very heavy, localized rainfall, with estimated accumulations of between 50 and 75 millimeters, primarily during the early hours of Tuesday.
They also warned that the rainfall could cause landslides in mountainous areas, rises in river and stream levels, and flooding in low-lying areas of the state.
The state agency indicated that it has deployed its operational personnel to respond to any emergencies and provide support to the population if necessary.
Authorities urged the public to stay informed through official channels, avoid spreading unconfirmed information, and follow the recommendations issued by Civil Protection to reduce risks.
