Rising gasoline prices have already led to certain gas stations in the state of Oaxaca being singled out.
As announced by Governor Salomón Jara Cruz, the State Government, in conjunction with the Federal Consumer Prosecutor’s Office (PROFECO), has begun placing banners at gas stations that charge high prices.
The first instance occurred at the gas station located at the intersection of Periférico and Ramón López Velarde Street—just meters from the Cinco Señores underpass—which is operated by Servicios Gaseros del Golfo SA de CV.
A banner was placed at the site bearing the message: “Don’t fill up here; their prices are way out of line.”
The banner displays the logos of both PROFECO and the Secretariat of Economy.
According to data displayed at the station, the price for “Magna” (regular) gasoline is 24 pesos per liter, “Premium” is 29.89 pesos per liter, and diesel is 27.50 pesos per liter.
Despite this, the station continues to operate normally.
According to some customers, prices at this location vary, though they—like other stations—approach the 30-peso-per-liter mark.
Another station targeted is the G500 located at the intersection near the Oaxaca International Airport.
A banner with the same design is displayed there as well.
Regarding pricing, this station lists “Súper” (or Magna) at 24.98 pesos per liter, Premium at 29.59 pesos, and diesel at 27 pesos.
State and federal authorities have announced that these enforcement operations will continue in order to curb excessive gasoline prices across the state.
