The National Fund for Tourism Development (Fonatur) has launched a new public bidding process for the sale of land in Bahías de Huatulco, Oaxaca, with the aim of fostering tourism, commercial, and residential projects in one of the country’s most prominent beach destinations.
The call for bids covers various lots situated within the Huatulco Centro Integralmente Planeado (CIP)—an “Integrated Planned Center”—one of the zones developed by Fonatur to bolster tourism activity along Mexico’s Pacific coast.
According to information released by the federal agency, the land parcels are suitable for various types of investment and form part of a strategy designed to promote economic growth and orderly urban development within the region.
Seeking to Attract Domestic and Private Investors
The bidding process is open to participation from both individuals and legal entities interested in developing real estate and tourism projects in Huatulco.
Fonatur announced that participant pre-registration will take place from April 6 to April 17; during this period, interested parties may officially submit their intent to participate in the process.
Furthermore, a clarification meeting will be held on April 16 and 17 to address any questions regarding the specific lots, requirements, and conditions for participation.
The public auction is scheduled for April 20 and will be conducted under an open and competitive framework which, according to the agency, aims to ensure transparency and a level playing field for all participants.
Huatulco Retains its Tourism and Real Estate Appeal
Bahías de Huatulco continues to be one of the fastest-growing tourism destinations in Oaxaca, driven by its hotel infrastructure, air connectivity, and real estate development.
In recent years, the area has maintained strong interest among both domestic and foreign investors, particularly regarding projects related to residential tourism, hotels, retail, and services.
Through this new bidding process, Fonatur seeks to stimulate the inflow of private capital and bolster economic development along the Oaxacan Coast—one of the state’s key strategic regions for the tourism industry.
The official call for bids and the complete terms and conditions for participation are available for review through Fonatur’s official channels.
