Members of a gang that has been selling drugs, even disguised as candy, in the city of Oaxaca and the Central Valleys region are under investigation by the State Attorney General’s Office following a raid on a house on Crespo Street in the historic center of Oaxaca City. More than 30 kilos of marijuana, along with its derivatives, were seized, including vape pens. Four people were taken into custody for questioning.

The investigation, conducted by agents of the State Investigation Agency, uncovered evidence that the house, located on Manuel Sabino Crespo Street, between Morelos and Independencia Streets in Oaxaca City, was not only a place where young people used drugs, but also a distribution center for vape pens, marijuana cigarettes, and candy that appeared to contain narcotics.

At 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, the National Guard, State Police, and the Secretariat of National Defense executed a search warrant at a property located in case file 235/2026, stemming from an investigation into drug trafficking.

The investigation revealed that drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamine were being sold and distributed.

During the operation, four people were brought in for questioning, all of whom appear to be drug users.

They are Renata, 26, from Puerto Escondido; Nizan, 23, from San Baltazar Chichicapam, Ocotlán de Morelos; José, 18, who lives in Santa Cruz Xoxocotlán; and Ricardo, 32, from San Felipe del Agua.

For more than four hours, personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office inspected the premises, seizing candy suspected of laced with drugs, vaping devices prohibited by health authorities, and 35 kilograms of marijuana and its derivatives.

The investigation continues to locate the facility where the drugs are processed into candy and those who are selling them.

It should be noted that children at a school were reported to have been poisoned after consuming drug-laced candy, and the same occurred with employees of the Civil Registry in the city of Oaxaca.
