On behalf of the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, the Director General of Professionalization and Tourism Competitiveness, Mariana del Carmen Díaz y de Maxil, and the General Manager of Personnel and Tourism at Mobility ADO, Víctor Cortes Melo, officially launched the Oaxaca Turitour from Mexico City.
Mariana Díaz stated that this launch symbolizes the combined efforts of the public and private sectors and demonstrates the close collaboration between the Government of Mexico and the states to promote tourism as an engine of social well-being.
This tour includes two overnight stays in Oaxaca, with visits to both iconic landmarks and emerging community-based tourism destinations, which will generate direct economic benefits for the host communities and strengthen local development.
She thanked Víctor Cortés for his valuable contribution and Mobility ADO’s ongoing collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, whose commitment to the country’s tourism development has been key to making this project a reality.
“We are proud that Oaxaca is the location where this project is taking shape; a state that remains among the most visited and highly regarded destinations for both domestic and international travelers. From January to June alone, Oaxaca has registered more than 2.9 million tourists, a hotel occupancy rate of 43 percent, and an economic impact exceeding 11.3 billion pesos.”
He noted that this new route will allow visitors to experience an authentic journey through Oaxaca’s most iconic sites, “the melting pot of cultures, a land of flavors, colors, sounds, and ancestral traditions that live on in its people, its gastronomy, its crafts, its history, and its heritage.”
He specified that the goal is to bring travelers closer to Oaxaca’s rich cultural, artisanal, historical, and culinary heritage, with a comfortable, safe, and accessible service for everyone. It will include stops at strategic points, guided tours, and culinary options with a community focus, allowing residents of these towns to participate in tourism and its benefits.
Víctor Cortes Melo, General Manager of Personnel and Tourism Mobility ADO, noted that this will be the first route with overnight stays, which is why a major tourist destination like Oaxaca was chosen.
“Turitour Oaxaca is an accessible and ongoing tour that arose from collaboration between the government and the private sector. It includes transportation in state-of-the-art buses, lodging, meals, and mezcal tastings, as well as visits to tourist attractions and interactive experiences in artisan workshops,” he stated.
