A 5.2 magnitude earthquake, according to the National Seismological Service, was recorded tonight with its epicenter 48 kilometers southeast of La Crucecita, Huatulco, in the coastal region of Oaxaca, at a depth of nine kilometers.
The event was felt strongly in various regions, but seismic alerts were not activated because it did not exceed the 5.5 magnitude threshold, according to the parameters established by Civil Protection authorities.
So far, no reports of damage or injuries have been issued as a result of the earthquake. Social media reports indicate that it was felt very strongly in nearby communities such as Santiago Astata.
The Oaxaca State Civil Protection Coordination reported that monitoring and verification actions have been activated in all eight regions of the state and urged the public to stay informed through official channels.
