Next month, Oaxaca will once again become the nerve center of the coffee industry with the celebration of the 2025 Coffee Convention, an event that seeks to consolidate the achievements of its previous edition.
Oaxaca.- This meeting will feature the participation of producers, specialists, and marketers and is emerging as a key space for strengthening Oaxacan coffee, a product that has achieved notable recognition both nationally and internationally.
Oaxaca stands out as one of the states with the longest tradition of coffee production in Mexico. Its diverse geography and climatic conditions favor the cultivation of specialty coffees, which are highly valued in the global market.
At the previous edition of the convention, the importance of coffee was highlighted not only as a driver of the local economy but also as a crop that promotes environmental sustainability, given that it is grown under shade and using agroecological practices.
The event will bring together more than 350 producers, who will have the opportunity to showcase their crops and participate in specialized tastings to evaluate the quality of their beans.
In addition, experts in fair trade and organic certification are expected to participate, who will share strategies to improve the marketing of Oaxacan coffee.
One of the central themes of the convention will be innovation in coffee production and marketing.
In recent years, Oaxaca has transformed its perception of coffee, moving away from the idea of a simple commodity and adopting a production model that prioritizes the quality and identity of the bean.
Producers have learned to differentiate their crops, classifying the beans according to their ripeness and sensory characteristics, which has allowed them to obtain better market prices.
Training programs have also been implemented that have raised the quality of Oaxacan coffee, achieving scores above 84.5 points on the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) scale.
