Three people were killed in a confrontation at the Santiago Pinotepa Nacional bus station after security forces attacked the area.
A municipal police officer and a Navy officer were killed in the attack, while the attacker was killed when they repelled the attack, the Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office reported.
The agency also indicated that the confrontation occurred early Saturday morning when a man attempted to rob users of the bus station with a sharp-edged weapon. The municipal police intervened, but were subsequently attacked.
Navy officers immediately arrived to assist with the containment, but were also fired upon, resulting in the deaths of a municipal officer and a member of the Semar (Semar).
In response to the attack, security forces deployed tactical forces to neutralize the attacker and safeguard the safety of the civilians present.
Meanwhile, the FGEO, along with the State Police of the SSPC and members of the Navy and the National Guard, are strengthening and intensifying an operation to preserve and guarantee security in the area.
