Through the second stage of a Mega Reforestation Tequio, 57 hectares of the Monte Albán Polygon were worked on this Sunday, where around a thousand volunteers, community members, as well as more than 30 state public administration agencies participated.
In the “Piedras Grandes” area, Governor Salomón Jara Cruz expressed that putting the tequio into practice is an expression with incalculable value, especially if it is to restore the vitality of the Oaxacan soils.
“Planting a tree is strengthening the future and the present of our planet. With its grain of sand, Oaxaca is a bastion of solidarity and community spirit,” he said.
Meanwhile, the general director of the State Forestry Commission (Coesfo), Magdalena Coello Castillo, announced that 33 thousand specimens of species such as tepehuaje, huamuche, guaje, tronadora, timbre, mesquite and jarilla were planted, which are native to Oaxaca and easily adapt to the ecosystem.
She added that, with the Mega Tequios Bienestar de Reforestación, up to now around 10 thousand hectares have been recovered throughout the state during the rainy season, with the Mixteca, Valles Centrales and Sierra Sur being where 61 percent of the delivered plants are produced.
Coello Castillo, highlighted that in this way the progress of the Reforesta Oaxaca program continues, where more than 200 educational institutions in the eight regions have also collaborated.
It should be noted that in this second stage of reforestation, the National Guard (GN) and the Secretariat of National Defense were present. (Sedena).
With these actions, the State Government brings the Oaxacan Spring to the entire population with care for the environment and compensation for the effects of climate change, promoting the Comprehensive and Sustainable Development of the towns.
