Despite the austerity announced at the beginning of the administration, the Morena government of Oaxaca acquired three armored vehicles through the Administration Secretariat, at a cost of more than 12 million pesos, a purchase confirmed by Governor Salomón Jara Cruz himself, who assured that he was not aware of it.
On his Twitter account, the governor distanced himself from the acquisition and assured that he was never informed of this purchase, that he decided to cancel the operation and remove the director of Assets of the Administration Secretariat of the State Government, Melquiades Antonio Ruiz, from his position.
“I have also instructed the carrying out of an investigation of all areas and any irregularity will be sanctioned regardless of who the person responsible is,” he assured.
The purchase of the three armored vehicles was announced by journalist Sayda Morales Bustamante, from the state media outlet Punto y Aparte.
According to the journalist, it was a simulated tender in which the purchase contract was assigned to the company Autopartes y Refacciones Marlo S. A. de C. V., the only one that participated in the public tender.
The cost of the three vehicles was 12 million 600 thousand pesos and the argument of the Administration Secretariat for their acquisition was that the vehicles would be used “against organized crime,” according to the documents released by Sayda Morales.
