Members of the October 23 Organization are protesting in Oaxaca on Oct. 23. The purpose of the action is to demand justice for the murder of Heriberto Pazos Ortiz. Protesters gathered primarily along Carretera 190 in the Santa Lucia del Camino area near the former office of the State Public Education Institute of Oaxaca (Instituto Estatal de Educacion Publica de Oaxaca, IEEPO) before marching towards the Zocalo in the Centro Historico area.

Traffic disruptions are occurring in the area. Although the action should remain largely peaceful, clashes between protesters and security forces cannot be ruled out. Localized business disruptions are likely.
