Oaxaca ranks first nationally in deaths caused by dengue; there are 6 victims

With six deaths, Oaxaca is in first place nationally in deaths caused by dengue until epidemiological week number 35, Health Services confirmed. 

The head of the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Services of Oaxaca, Mayliz Esparza Castellanos, stated that during the fourth weekly dengue cut, they were notified of three new deaths for a total of six accumulated: three in the Health Jurisdiction of Valles Central, two in Tuxtepec and one in the Isthmus. 

It should be noted that the new deaths reported correspond to a 71-year-old man and a 72-year-old man, as well as an eight-year-old girl, respectively, one registered in Valles Centrales, another in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and the third in Tuxtepec, Papaloapan Basin. 

In addition, she acknowledged that Oaxaca has 823 confirmed cases of dengue, of which 114 are new cases. 

Esparza Castellanos explained that according to her classification of the 823 cases, 387 correspond to Non-Severe Dengue (DNG), 407 to Dengue With Warning Signs (DCSA), and 29 to Severe Dengue (DG). 

And she highlighted that there are a total of 20 municipalities with the highest number of positive cases, which are distributed as follows: Sanitary Jurisdiction of Valles Centrales with 586 cases, Mixteca 60, Istmo 59, Costa 49, Tuxtepec 46 and Sierra 23 . 

While the five municipalities with the highest number of cases are: Oaxaca de Juárez with 244 cases, Santa Cruz Xoxocotlán with 107 cases, Huajuapan de León with 48 cases, Santa Lucía del Camino with 28 and San Juan Bautista Tuxtepec with 24 cases. 

The largest number of cases is concentrated in the age groups: 10 to 14 years old with 106 cases, 15 to 19 years old with 92 cases, 25 to 29 years old with 83 cases and 30 to 34 years old with 80 cases. 

In the last seven days, health personnel carried out larval and vector control activities in a total of 432 locations in 138 municipalities. As well as space spraying on 297 hectares, she pointed out.
