The deputy director of a hospital in Oaxaca is dismissed for placing a newborn in a cardboard box

Oaxaca Health Services detected that on the day of the photo, the hospital had the capacity of five types of nurseries for the care of pediatric patients

After the photograph of a newborn inside a cardboard box was disseminated, in the nursery section of the pediatric area of the General Hospital, Aurelio Valdivieso, in the city of Oaxaca, one of the managers was removed from office.

The state government, through the Oaxaca Health Services (SSO), reported that the dismissal of the deputy director general of the institution, who was on duty last Sunday, was determined.

Through a communication, the federal agency specified that it investigated the grievance, and detected that on that date the hospital had the capacity of five types of nurseries for the care of pediatric patients.

Although the SSOs recognized that there is saturation in hospital services, they stated that “care must be provided in a comprehensive, professional, and ethical manner, in adherence to current standards, criteria, and protocols.”

Through social networks, a person with access to the pediatric area shared the photograph of the newborn inside a box covered with a white sheet and wrapped in a red blanket, revealing the shortcomings of the most important medical center in the state of Oaxaca.
