Authorities reported the murder of a tourist in the streets of the Historic Center of Oaxaca. According to the first reports, the visitor was originally from the State of Mexico, who would have suffered an armed attack with sharp objects.

The 57-year-old man was identified by security elements as José Ortiz Jirón, found dead in the streets of Jesús Carranza, between Porfirio Díaz and Manuel García Vigil, in the downtown area of Oaxaca. According to information from the Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office (FGEO), the main line of investigation into the subject’s homicide was established as personal revenge.

Elements of the police and paramedics went to the place, who found the man of Mexican origin with multiple injuries. The area was immediately restricted and investigations began. The notice was given by witnesses, who, highlighted in a first version, the violent act recorded on the afternoon of this Tuesday, July 18.

According to the authorities, through the testimonies, the man was seen walking through the streets of the center when he was attacked by two individuals with a sharp weapon, without being asked to hand over valuables, so the robbery motive is ruled out. in this act the investigations continue under the coordination of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Attention to High Impact Crimes, elements of the State Investigation Agency (AEI) and experts from different disciplines.

So far, the identity of the men who attacked the subject is unknown, so the resolution of the investigations is expected to follow the route of the possible culprits.

The capital of Oaxaca is considered one of the most touristic areas of the entity, so the case of the murdered visitor surprised the community, especially since it took place in one of the streets most traveled by the inhabitants of the place.

It should be noted that only last May the murder of another tourist in Oaxaca was reported, who had been identified as Víctor Masson, originally from Canada. The subject was visiting Puerto Escondido, however, his lifeless body was found by the authorities on Mar del Norte street, Arroyo Seco neighborhood, on the Oaxaca coast.

The Municipal Police of Puerto Escondido reported, on May 16, that the 27-year-old man had been shot in the back with a firearm. The investigations are already under the command of the State Attorney General’s Office.

This murder adds to another case of a tourist of Argentine origin, who was visiting the Lagunas de Chacahua beach, on the Oaxaca coast. Authorities identified him as Benjamín Gamond, 23, originally from Córdoba, Argentina. He was attacked with “machetes” that caused his death after a serious blow to the head.

The tourist was taken from the emergency room by helicopter from the General Hospital of Mexico in Puerto Escondido to Mexico City, however, days after his transfer, his death was reported through the doctors. It is worth mentioning that the young man’s organs were donated, so the hospital staff fired the young man to applause.

In recent years, a wave of violence has been reported in Oaxaca towards tourists, who on different occasions have faced fights, assaults and more. The entity has been considered one of the states most visited by international and national tourists.
