After 15 years, the Oaxaca-Puerto Escondido highway will be completed

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that the Oaxaca-Puerto Escondido highway is nearing completion.

As part of his tour in Oaxaca, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reported that to complete the Oaxaca-Puerto Escondido highway, only 12 kilometers of paving and a bridge are missing.

15 years ago, project began, now AMLO he announced that it will be inaugurated in July.

With this highway, the journey from the state capital to Puerto Escondido will be reduced from six to two and a half hours.

“Almost there! A large bridge and 12 km of pavement to finish the Oaxaca-Puerto Escondido highway. Instead of 6 hours of transfer, 2.5 will be need it. We will open it in July this year. Hopefully, by then, we can also solve the old agrarian problem between Sola de Vega and San Vicente Coatlán and achieve peace,” the president said on social networks.

He accompanied the message with a video recorded from a helicopter that flew over the works.

Last February, the inhabitants of Villa Sola de Vega and San Vicente Coatlán agreed after an assembly to allow the construction of the remaining 15 kilometers, after carrying out a blockade during the conflicts between the two towns.

Moments before posting his message on his social networks this Sunday afternoon, the President supervised the National Labor Roads Program in Coxcaltepec Cántaros.
