Two dead and hundreds of travelers were stranded for 12 hours by an accident on the Oaxaca-Cuacnopalan superhighway

Two dead people and the closure of more than 12 hours on the highway that goes from the city of Oaxaca to Mexico City left the crash of two tractor-trailers, which collided and caught fire, reported Caminos y Puentes Federales (hood).

According to official information, the accident was recorded at kilometer 89 of the Oaxaca-Cuacnopala highway and it was a “range collision”, which caused traffic to be closed in both directions to deal with the mishap. 

The crash was recorded on the afternoon night of this Thursday, between a Torton-type truck, which was transporting Pet material, and another that was loaded with gravel.  

According to the Oaxaca Public Security Secretariat (SSPO), the two drivers who died burned at the scene, the same ones who until this Friday morning remained unknown. 

The personnel of the State Investigation Agency (AEI), attached to the Attorney General of the State of Oaxaca (FGEO), arrived at the scene of the events to carry out the corresponding procedures.

The accident caused the closure of the highways for more than 12 hours, which left hundreds of people stranded, for the safety of the users, Capufe personnel closed the Miahutlán and Suchixtlahuaca toll plazas, in the Mixteca region of Oaxaca. 

Until 11:22 a.m. this Friday, Capufe reported that a partial closure of traffic was maintained and that it was restored “intermittently” in both directions, and that the accident attention maneuvers continued.
