The security forces also recovered the streets of Colón and Bustamante, where around 80 informal traders were withdrawn

The street vendors did not oppose resistance and began to set up their stalls located on Bustamante and Colón streets.

They had been installed there for several weeks, after a police operation also evicted them from the Zócalo, Alameda de León, and other parts of the historic center where they did business on public roads, without permission.

“As you can see, the street of Bustamante and Colón has already been free. Last night the operation began to evict all the merchants who were invading. Police action protocols were applied, this exclusively, I repeat, the police intervened in support of inspectors on public roads to free the streets, ”said Taurino López, deputy director of the Municipal Police of Oaxaca.

After the removal of the street stalls, firefighters and public cleaners began to lift tons of garbage that remained in the streets and wash the roads that remained occupied for several weeks.

“From the point of view that I am here as a local, well, yes, it benefits me because more people come in, the lady who rents to me because she still has a buffet, many more people come in,” said Roberto Flores, a merchant.
