She is at home for the moment, in Oaxaca, to spend the December and New Year holidays with her family members, but at the beginning of January, she will return to the United States of America (USA) to resume her studies and training. as part of the women’s roster of this sport of the Hornets of the University of Alabama (Alabama State University -ASU-).
“I want to improve my golf, have a better performance, and of course, our main desire is to be healthy and to return to official competitive activity; Of course, first of all, we hope that the health situation improves, but we do want that in this New Year, finally, the competitions can return ”, the youth national champion in Mexico in 2019 expressed in a brief interview.
It is worth mentioning that prior to the suspension of activities, Alma García participated in some university tournaments in the area that corresponds to her institution in the USA, which is the Southwest Athletic Conference (SWAC), during the first quarter of this year but due to the pandemic came the suspension of sporting events.
Given this, Alma García returned to Oaxaca for a few months and then returned to Alabama at the beginning of August and continued receiving classes; and since golf is an individual sport and is practiced outdoors, he was able to resume some of the activity and practice with the respective security and prevention protocols due to the pandemic.
In relation to 2021, he indicated that there is already a schedule of SWAC tournaments, the first of them at the end of January, as well as two more in February and another pair in March, as well as in contests in April and May; However, he recalled that the fact that this calendar can be developed will depend precisely on the health situation.
Regarding what 2020 was like for her, she considers, without a doubt, that “it was high-low”, and despite the fact that official training sessions were suspended for months, she tried to keep up with the necessary care.
It should be remembered that 19-year-old Alma García is currently in the third semester of a bachelor’s degree in graphic design at ASU, which she joined in August 2019.
Finally, the Oaxacan youth golfer thanked her parents for the support they have always given her and reminded everyone that the necessary precautions should be taken in the face of the pandemic.
