Oaxaca de Juárez, Oax. July 19, 2020. The maximum party of Oaxacans, La Guelaguetza, is the most important racial celebration in Latin America, and this Monday, July 20 at 10:00 am, the first broadcast of Lunes del Cerro will be presented.
Derived from the pandemic by COVID-19, this year the maximum folkloric party will be held digitally and can be shared worldwide through the signal of the Oaxacan Radio and Television Corporation (Cortv), as well as social networks of the Secretariats of Economy (SE), Tourism (Sectur) and of the Cultures and Arts of Oaxaca (Seculta).
The participating delegations will fill with joy, folklore and tradition the hearts of thousands of people who will be able to enjoy the virtual broadcast from the comfort of their homes.
This year, the maximum celebration of the Oaxacans brings with it a message of encouragement and brotherhood between the Oaxacan peoples and the world, through an emotional message from the Goddess Centéotl, Lilia López Hernández, from Loma Bonita.
During this first broadcast of La Guelaguetza: the strength of our identity, the multicolored clothing and plume that characterizes the Feather Dancers of Teotitlán del Valle will be appreciated, followed by San Melchor Betaza, San Pedro Tapanatepec, Huautla de Jiménez, San Antonino Castillo Velasco, San Vicente Coatlán and San Pedro Amuzgos.
While San Juan Bautista Tuxtepec will present us with one of the most acclaimed dancers of this party, “Flor de Piña”, also from Oaxacan homes you can sing the
Mixtec song that will give way to the delegation of Huajuapan de León, will also be the representatives of Santiago Llano Grande, Santo Domingo Tehuantepec, San Juan Cacahuatepec, closing with the Chinas Oaxaqueñas and their traditional Jarabe del Valle.
La Guelaguetza has positioned itself to the liking of thousands of people who have been able to enjoy it, but it has also served to spread the culture, music and traditions of Oaxaca to the whole world.
