With chess players arriving from across the country, the “Reyes del Mar Huatulco 2026” National Chess Championship kicked off this Saturday; the competition brings together practitioners of the sport on September 5 and 6 to test their talent, concentration, and strategic skills at the chessboard.

The event is organized by the Huatulco Chess Club with the aim of strengthening the practice of the “sport of the mind” and creating a space for camaraderie and competition among players of various skill levels.
During the opening day, the importance of continuing to promote nationwide sporting events that help position Huatulco as a hub for diverse disciplines was highlighted.

The Municipal Government of Santa María Huatulco, led by Julio Cárdenas, reaffirmed its support for such initiatives and reiterated its commitment to promoting sports and activities that foster community participation.
Throughout the weekend, participants in the “Reyes del Mar Huatulco 2026” will aim to advance in the competition through matches where strategy, precision, and concentration will be decisive factors in achieving victory.
