Los Cabos and Oaxaca de Juárez formalize municipal twinning

The municipalities of Los Cabos and Oaxaca de Juárez formalized their sister city relationship, an agreement that opens the door to greater development opportunities for both communities, as well as strengthening institutional ties and facilitating the exchange of experiences in tourism, gastronomy, and culture.

The official ceremony was led by the mayors, Christian Agúndez Gómez and Raymundo Chagoya Villanueva. During his remarks, the mayor of Los Cabos highlighted the richness and diversity of Oaxaca, reflected in its traditions, gastronomy, and landscapes—elements that strengthen the meaning and scope of this sister city agreement.

Also present at the event were the municipal trustee, Nélida Dolores Alfaro Rosas; the councilman, Celestino Atienzo Beltrán, president of the Tourism Committee; the general director of Economic Development, Abril Urueta Martínez; the chief of staff, Guillermo Sánchez Flores; and the municipal director of Tourism, Ana Gabriela Navarro González.

In this regard, Ana Gabriela Navarro González reported that this twinning agreement will be promoted at the International Tourism Fair, emphasizing that the agreement represents a firm step toward consolidating institutional cooperation, cultural exchange, and the joint promotion of sustainable tourism development. Similarly, Municipal Trustee Nélida Dolores Alfaro Rosas highlighted that this alliance will expand growth opportunities for both communities.

For his part, the mayor of Oaxaca de Juárez, Raymundo Chagoya Villanueva, stated that his municipality celebrates this twinning as an act of solidarity and strategic alliance, which strengthens community building and reaffirms the commitment to “build together the Mexico we want.”
