The National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE) announced a new mobilization for Tuesday, November 25, in the state of Oaxaca. They indicated that the march will commemorate “arbitrary detentions” that occurred nearly 20 years ago.

Why is the CNTE holding another mobilization on November 25?

Through a press release shared on social media, the CNTE has called for a new mobilization on Tuesday, November 25, in the streets of Oaxaca City, specifically in the Zócalo, the state capital’s main square.

Yes, according to this organization, the main objective of this protest is to demand justice for the “arbitrary detentions” of members of the Democratic Movement of Education Workers of Oaxaca, which occurred on November 25, 2006.

In this regard, Section 22 of the CNTE (National Coordinator of Education Workers) indicated that they still demand justice and punishment for those responsible, both directly and indirectly, for the arbitrary detentions that took place almost 20 years ago.

For this same reason, they asked education workers in Oaxaca to participate in this new mobilization, which will take place on Tuesday, November 25.

Time and location of the CNTE mobilization

The call to action, disseminated on social media, states that the new CNTE mobilization on November 25 will begin with a march at 9:00 a.m., starting from the Fountain of the Eight Regions and ending at the Zócalo (main square) in the city of Oaxaca.

Following this protest, education workers plan to hold a public forum in front of the Government Palace.

“You are urged to respond responsibly and punctually to this call to strengthen our Democratic Movement of Education Workers of Oaxaca,” the statement reads.

It should be noted that this mobilization is unrelated to the potential 72-hour strike planned by the CNTE (National Coordinator of Education Workers) if the federal government of President Claudia Sheinbaum does not respond to their labor, social, and educational demands.

In fact, it is worth recalling that they also warned of possible protests during the organization of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey if their demands are not met.
