Macabre: International Horror Film Festival comes to Oaxaca!

Horror takes over Oaxaca! The International Horror Film Festival arrives in the state to offer an unmissable selection of contemporary Mexican horror and fantasy films.

This traveling festival of macabre will tour several states in Mexico and present a powerful program that includes:

15 feature films
37 short films
A film appreciation workshop
A discussion with directors

Films that will make you shiver

Among the titles that will be screened, you can find: Alex Winter, Mírame, Guardado Hermano, La Feria de los Horrores, Rabia, and Muertamorfosis.

Activities in Oaxaca

The tour will begin on September 19 and end on November 10. In Oaxaca, screenings will take place from October 13 to 19 at different venues:

Workshop “Cinematográfica ABSA and the History of Mexican Fantastic Cinema”: Taught by Abel Pérez García and Tlatoani Ortiz López, at the Piojo Cineclub in Zaachila, Oaxaca. Dates: October 17 and 18.

Cinema Cuervo (URSE Research Center Auditorium): Screening of Guardado, brother of Jorge Iván Sanders. Date: October 13.
La Tormenta Auditorium at José Vasconcelos University: Screenings of “Por eso en Mixquic hay tantos perros” (That’s Why There Are So Many Dogs in Mixquic), “Bestiario” (Against the Fable of a Stuffed Girl), and “La Cruz de Agujas” (The Cross of Needles). Schedule: October 14 at 12:00 noon.
Oaxaca Institute of Graphic Arts (IAGO) Alcalá Campus: Screening of Lone Stars. Schedule: October 16 at 5:30 p.m.
Oaxaca Institute of Graphic Arts (IAGO) Juárez Campus: Screenings of The Journey of the Jarana, Captain Blackbeard, and It’s Raining Flowers, Pirates and the Witch’s Treasure. Schedule: October 15 at 5:30 p.m.
Oaxaca Children’s Museum (MIO): Screening of Meet the Head of Juan Pérez. Schedule: October 19 at 7:00 p.m.
