On July 28, 2025, in the town of Santiago Tepitongo, municipality of Totontepec Villa de Morelos, in the Mixe region of Oaxaca, a case of aggravated child sexual abuse was reported against a minor, whose identity remains protected by law. After receiving the complaint, the Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office (FGEO) began an investigation that culminated on August 8 with the arrest of A.F.P., the alleged perpetrator of the crime.
The assault occurred when the victim went to an establishment in that town. The complaint was handled by the Deputy Attorney General’s Office for Regional Control, which gathered the necessary information to request an arrest warrant, which was executed by the State Investigation Agency (AEI) through an operation in the area.
Zero Tolerance for Crimes Against Minors
The FGEO emphasized that this action is part of its zero-tolerance strategy for crimes committed against children and adolescents, reaffirming its commitment to act swiftly and firmly at any sign of child sexual violence. Once arrested, A.F.P. was placed at the disposal of the appropriate judicial authority, which will determine his legal status based on the criminal record of the case.
These types of crimes, in addition to being criminally serious, have a profound emotional and social impact on the victims and their families. Therefore, the Attorney General’s Office emphasized the importance of providing comprehensive and effective care, which not only includes the legal process but also the psychological and social support necessary for the recovery of those affected.
Child Protection as an Institutional Priority
The Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office reiterated that guaranteeing children’s right to live free from violence is an institutional priority. In this regard, he called on citizens to report any act that violates the integrity of minors, assuring them that each case will be handled with the rigor and sensitivity required by law.
