Nena and Nina, pit bulls, were sprayed with acid by Frenchman Jeremie Besisiere, who is already wanted by the State Investigations Unit after being charged with the crime of animal cruelty, confirmed the Oaxaca Attorney General’s Office.
The incident occurred in the early hours of May 18 at a private home on Campesina Street in the municipality of Cuilápam de Guerrero, Oaxaca, according to security cameras.
The Attorney General’s Office reported that it is already conducting the corresponding investigation as part of its judicial work after receiving a complaint for the crime of animal cruelty. Two dogs were sprayed with acid, resulting in injuries, in an incident that occurred in Cuilápam de Guerrero, in the Valles Central region.
According to the statement from the victims’ owner, a fully identified man went to the home located in the Second Section of Cuilápam, Guerrero, where the attacker threw acid at two vertebrate animals that were in his home.
The two dogs named Nena and Nina suffered lacerations and acid burns. The attacker has been fully identified, and a search is underway to determine their whereabouts.
This case is being handled by the Regional Deputy Prosecutor’s Office of the Central Valleys, which is handling the complaint through the Specialized Operational Unit against Animal Cruelty, which applies the corresponding investigation protocols to bring whoever is responsible to justice.
The Oaxaca Prosecutor’s Office promptly handles cases of animal cruelty, which is classified as a crime in the state, and therefore, work is being carried out through specialized areas to ensure adequate legal proceedings for the victims.
This incident sparked outrage in the community, while the owners are demanding the arrest of the foreigner, who, according to the Oaxaca penal code, could face a prison sentence of one to five years and a fine of 100 to 1,000 times the daily value of the Unit of Measurement and Update (UMA).
