Madrid, Spain. January 23, 2025.- Oaxaca began its participation in the 45th edition of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) 2025, which is held from January 22 to 26 at the Madrid Trade Fair Institution (Ifema) venue.

This event represents an important platform to position Oaxaca as a world-class tourist destination, presenting its cultural and natural wealth to international buyers and strategic allies.

Representing Governor Salomón Jara Cruz, the Secretary of Tourism (Sectur- Oaxaca), Saymi Pineda Velasco participated in the opening ceremony of the Mexican pavilion, led by her counterpart from the Government of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora.

“Oaxaca’s presence at Fitur 2025 is based on strengthening and expanding the network of commercial contacts, as well as directly promoting tourism products to a market as relevant as the European,” he stressed.

He emphasized that Europe represents a strategic market for Mexico and pointed out that, in 2024, 340 thousand Spanish tourists visited the country, consolidating Spain as the fifth most important issuer, and the fourth for the state of Oaxaca.

In the case of Oaxaca, Europe is, after the United States, the second most important region of tourist origin; in that region: Spain, France, and Germany lead the visits, followed by England, Poland, Italy, and the Netherlands.

Pineda Velasco added that with the tourist brand “Oaxaca, Proud Land of its Roots”, the state presents itself at Fitur as the cultural heart of Mexico, and stands out for its traditional, cultural, gastronomic, historical, and natural attractions, as well as experiential experiences.

He pointed out that, the participation of Oaxaca in this fair contributes to the integral and sustainable development of the eight regions promoted by the Government of the Oaxacan Spring, and reaffirms the commitment to strengthen tourism activity as a tool that promotes the state economy.
