Due to the lack of supplies, healing materials, medicines and comprehensive services, authorities of the General Hospital “Aurelio Valdivieso” suspended scheduled surgeries and rescheduled non-urgent ones because there is neither “water from a jug nor diesel for the boilers”.
In addition to this, starting this Tuesday, January 7, “there will be no dining service, only diets for patients will be prioritized and the water from the drinking water tanks will be reserved for human use”.
While the Morena government of Salomón Jara Cruz allocates millions of dollars for parties, Christmas decorations and gifts, the person in charge of the direction of the General Hospital “Aurelio Valdivieso”, Roxana Ríos Sánchez, stated that the supply and provision of supplies is the sole responsibility of the State Coordination of Health Services IMSS-Bienestar and the Health Services of Oaxaca.
He questioned that the intervention of the aforementioned organizations has been requested on a constant (daily) basis, without having an effective and clear response in this regard, which is why, in a staff meeting with the sub-directorates and heads of the Civil Hospital, an agreement was reached to suspend scheduled surgeries and defer all non-urgent surgery.
However, the document adds, by not having supplies and fuels anymore, it is impossible to attend to any surgical emergency, including obstetric ones, so they must establish communication with the Metropolitan Obstetric Network for the referral of said patients.
The feeding of the staff is also suspended from the meal of 01/07/2025 due to the lack of diesel and LP gas, the above, in order to optimize resources for the diets of hospitalized users.
And also the reception of patients referred from the RISS units and private individuals is suspended.
The circular states that “there is no laboratory, neither ordinary nor emergency, because the tender with the previous supplier has ended. If necessary, inform the family and if they are able to pay for it externally. There is no water in jugs for the same reason. As of today, January 6, there is no diesel for the boilers, therefore there will be no material and surgical clothing to sterilize.”
It should be noted that, on this occasion, it is not the unions or the health workers who are denouncing this serious situation, but the authorities in charge, since for half a year the Civil Hospital has been without a director, only an administrator who does not know anything about medicine was appointed as the person in charge.
