Agents from the State Investigation Agency of the Attorney General’s Office are searching for the alleged perpetrators of the crime against the mezcal entrepreneur and former leader of the National Mezcal Industry Board, Román G.R., 60 years old, which occurred on the road connecting to the community of Sitio Xitlapehua, Miahuatlán de Porfirio Díaz.
The events took place at 13:00 on Friday when Román was traveling in a gray Chevrolet Tahoe with license plates A38-AHD from Mexico City.
Armed individuals intercepted the vehicle on the local road, at the place known as Los Díaz or Los Espadines, and shot him.
Red Cross paramedics arrived at the scene but confirmed that the businessman was already deceased, hence they notified the Public Ministry agent.
Police forces arrived at the location and cordoned off the area so that the personnel from the high-impact area of the Attorney General’s Office could carry out the corresponding procedures.
At the site, shell casings were found and secured.
Román owned the mezcal bar El Rinconcito Mezcalero located in the community of San Isidro Guixé, and relatives have asked for an investigation into the identity of those responsible.
The prosecutor has initiated an investigation file for the crime of homicide and is searching for the perpetrators of the murder.
