The Danish company seeks to produce green hydrogen in one of the development poles of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced this Friday that one of the ten development poles of the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec will be run by a Danish company, which will invest 10 billion dollars in Ciudad Ixtepec, Oaxaca.

During the morning press conference, the Mexican president explained that the money will be used for the production of green hydrogen, which will replace the use of fossil fuels in modern ships.

“It is an Economic Fund of Denmark. They are going to invest ten billion dollars in this development pole because they are going to produce clean energy, green hydrogen,” AMLO announced in Oaxaca.

“All this is going to happen in the Isthmus; We are talking about the era of non-pollution, about everything that is being done to avoid climate change, so this agreement is about to be signed. It will no longer be my turn to see the work finished, but I am going to leave everything formalized with the agreements. “This is going to help the Isthmus a lot,” he added.

Likewise, the head of the Executive confirmed that the Interoceanic passenger train of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec will be inaugurated on Friday, December 22 after the rehabilitation of the tracks.

What lines will the Interoceanic Train have?

Line Z: This line will have an extension of 214 kilometers and will cross the Isthmus of Tehuantepec between Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, and Salina Cruz, Oaxaca. This section has a general progress of 90.44 percent and will offer passenger and cargo services.

FA Line: The FA Line will have an extension of 328 kilometers and will go from Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz to Palenque, Chiapas. This section will also offer passenger transport service starting in March 2024.
