They celebrate the First Guelaguetza del Mar in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca

Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca.- With a vibrant event of official delegations that toured the heart of this tourist destination, the First Guelaguetza del Mar began, an initiative promoted by Governor Salomón Jara Cruz to extend the wealth and cultural diversity of the ethnic groups of the entity and Afro-Mexican people, satisfying the desires of inhabitants of the Coast and visitors who were able to appreciate live and free of charge the most iconic shows of the greatest festival of Oaxacans.

This proposal, coordinated by the state’s Tourism Secretariat directed by Saymi Pineda Velasco, positively nourishes the 32 years of existence of the November Festivities; It also seeks to generate an economic benefit for the host municipalities, therefore, along with the artistic show offered by the dozen participating delegations, the secretariats of Interculturality, Indigenous and Afro-Mexican Peoples and Communities, Public Education and Economic Development were involved.

The repertoire that was exhibited for two days consisted mainly of the interpretation of sones and chilenas, as well as the staging of mayordomías, fiestas and popular games from each participating jurisdiction.

On Saturday, the community gathered on the esplanade of the municipal agency of this city to enjoy the traditional dances and music of San Pedro Mixtepec, San Andrés Huaxpaltepec, San Juan Colorado, Santa Catarina Juquila, El Ciruelo, Río Grande, Santiago Llano Grande and the invited delegations: San Juan Bautista Tuxtepec and Putla Villa de Guerrero.
