In a mega operation with two verification actions carried out in the city of Oaxaca, the National Institute of Migration (INM), in coordination with the State Secretariat for Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), detained 265 migrants for deportation purposes.
The INM assured that the foreigners were transported in “overcrowded conditions and with serious risk to their lives.”
The two Torton-type vehicles were detected in the Oaxacan capital and upon carrying out the corresponding review, foreigners who could not prove their legal stay in the national territory were found, including 191 family units, 26 unaccompanied minors and 48 single adults.
In the first action, Federal Migration Agents from the INM and the SSPC located a Torton-type vehicle on the banks of the Atoyac River, in front of the Technological Institute of Oaxaca, in which there were 118 foreigners in overcrowded conditions, without water or food.
After reviewing their documents, 77 family units from Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras were counted, as well as 14 unaccompanied minors and 27 single adults.
The two people of Mexican nationality who were transporting the foreign migrants were made available to the corresponding authorities together with the cargo vehicle.
The second action was carried out in the Periférico, near Parque del Amor, in the Oaxacan capital, where a Torton truck was located. When the driver was called to stop, the vehicle in which 147 foreign migrants were crowded, who could not prove their legal stay in Mexico, were searched.
In this unit, 114 family nuclei of Honduran, Guatemalan and Salvadoran nationality were counted; 12 unaccompanied minors and 21 single adults. Despite the unsanitary and insecure conditions in which the foreigners were transported, all are in good health.
The families and minors were taken to authorized shelters where the INM provides them with health services, water and food, as well as everything necessary to guarantee a safe stay while the corresponding immigration procedures are carried out.
In this action, two Mexicans were made available to the corresponding authorities together with the cargo vehicle.
