The Oaxacan coast claimed the life of a foreign tourist when a woman of Romanian origin drowned in the beaches of Zicatela, in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca.

According to the boyfriend of the deceased, both entered the sea despite the warning of the red flags that indicated danger due to the strong “swell.”

Around 11 in the morning on Tuesday, May 23rd, the tourists were enjoying their vacations when they decided to go surfing in the high waves at Zicatela, an area belonging to the municipality of Santa Maria Colotepec, Oaxaca.

The man from Mexico City was able to float and reach the shore, but not the 33-year-old woman, identified as Anda Chitu, who unfortunately ended up drowning.
