Navy secures more than a ton of cocaine in Oaxaca; arrests six suspected criminals

Elements of the Secretary of the Navy (Semar), secured in two actions, on the coast of Oaxaca1,555 kilograms of alleged cocaine hydrochloride and a boat with 18 drums containing fuel; as well as the arrest of three alleged transgressors of the law.

The first action took place on October 20, 296.32 kilometers south of the port of Santa Cruz Huatulco, Oaxaca.

The unit indicated that derived from field and cabinet work through which it became known of a probable transfer of illicit cargo.

“Because of the foregoing, air and surface units (ships) of the Mexican Navy were deployed; Later, the personnel aboard the units spotted a boat with three crew members, who, upon noticing the presence of naval personnel, threw packages into the sea and fled,” reported Semar in a statement.

He added that once the illicit cargo was recovered, 55 packages were recorded with an approximate weight of 1,555 kilograms, allegedly containing cocaine hydrochloride inside.

The narcotics were made available to the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) for the integration of the corresponding investigation folder.

In a second action carried out on the 21st of this month, approximately 190.75 kilometers west of the port of Santa Cruz, Huatulco, Oaxaca, a Navy helicopter located a suspicious vessel with two outboard motors, 18 fuel drums, with a capacity of 50 liters each, and three crew members on board.

The uniformed officers proceeded to insert an element of the Marine Infantry, and since the legal origin was not proven, they secured the boat, drums, and three people.

The detainees, who were read their Human Rights, as well as the insured boat and fuel, were made available to the FGR, for the integration of the investigation folder.
